Description

This is a Brahma PEG02 flame control box (SKU 16020254). It is intended for use in heat generators and manages the operation of burners with pre-purge. During startup, it initiates pre-purge, energises the ignition transformer, opens the fuel valve, and proves flame within the set safety time. It accepts signals from an ionisation electrode or UV flame detector, as well as an air pressure switch. The control drives the fan, transformer, and valve, and goes to lockout if flame is not confirmed in time.

Choosing and fitting

Control boxes of this type are selected by matching the supply voltage, pre-purge and safety times, flame detection method, and base or plug pattern. Before ordering, verify the existing control's data plate and confirm that the replacement shares identical timing and detection parameters. Different series within the same brand are normally not interchangeable. When installing, inspect the wiring harness and plugs for damage, and adjust the detector position or sensitivity only per the manufacturer's instructions.

Signs of failure

When such a control box fails, the burner may lock out without attempting to start, or lock out after the safety time because flame is not established. This can be caused by a defective flame detector (ionisation electrode or UV cell), an air pressure switch not confirming airflow, or a faulty ignition transformer. The lockout condition typically requires manual reset and can be intermittent, so check the flame signal, pressure switch wiring, and the internal relays.
