Description
This microprocessor-based control box manages automatic ignition, flame monitoring, and safe operation of gas burners in single-stage and two-stage configurations. It operates on an intermittent cycle and is suitable for both atmospheric and forced-draft burners. Flame detection uses an ionization electrode, with a flame-loss reaction time of less than 1 second to meet EN 298. The unit drives the ignition transformer, fuel valve, and fan, and is compatible with Riello, Baltur, Weishaupt, and Lamborghini burners.
Further details
| Air supply compatibility | natural draft (without fan) and forced air supply (with fan) |
|---|---|
| Automatic sequence | false flame check -> pre-purge -> ignition -> combustion monitoring -> safe shutdown |
| Operating sequence | pre-purge period, ignition attempt, flame proving window, lockout on failure |
| Selection criteria | exact series, type designation, supply voltage, safety and pre-purge times |
Choosing and fitting
Parts of this type are selected by exact series and type designation, supply voltage, and the specific safety and pre-purge times required by the burner. The flame detection method (ionisation, UV, or IR) must match the existing detector. Controls of this class are not interchangeable across series, even within the same brand; a mismatch in safety time creates a safety hazard. Before ordering, confirm the full part number and any suffix, as well as the base or plug pattern, to ensure it matches the burner's original control.
Signs of failure
When an abnormal condition occurs—loss of flame, ionization circuit break, or ignition failure—the control box goes into manual-reset lockout. The burner shuts down safely and remains off until the fault is eliminated and the unit is manually reset. Flame loss is detected rapidly, triggering the lockout before unsafe conditions develop. Check the flame detector signal, wiring, and supply voltage before attempting a reset.
