Description
This microprocessor-based combustion control unit manages ignition, flame monitoring and safe shutdown of forced draught gas burners in intermittent operation. It suits single-stage and two-stage burners, accepts 220–240 V AC at 50–60 Hz and consumes up to 30 W. Pre-purge lasts 30 s and the safety time is 2 s; the flame is monitored by an ionization electrode. The unit has two independent safety contacts, non-volatile lockout with manual reset, and can control various servo types. It conforms to EN 298, has an IP40 rating and weighs 0.4 kg.

Choosing and fitting
Control boxes of this type are selected by the exact series and type designation, supply voltage, safety time, pre-purge time and flame detection method. The base or plug pattern must match the socket in the burner; different safety times or terminal assignments are not interchangeable within a series. Before ordering, confirm the original part number and the burner specification from the label on the existing control. If the burner uses an electronic modulation board that communicates with the control, the replacement must match the communication protocol.
Signs of failure
If the control repeatedly locks out after the safety time without flame confirmation, the cause may be a missing or weak ionisation current, a faulty ignition transformer, or an air pressure switch not proving airflow. A weak flame signal can show up as nuisance lockouts. Because lockout is non-volatile, the burner stays out even after a power interruption and requires a manual reset.
