Description
The Kromschroder Gas filter 81940200 is a gas filter with a nominal diameter of DN 50 and an Rp internal thread connection. It is designed for installation in gas supply lines upstream of gas valves to trap solid particles such as rust, weld slag, and pipe dross. The filter has a maximum pressure of 4 bar (PU) and a maximum pressure gradient of 10 mbar across a clean filter pad. It is suitable for filtration of fuel gas and combustion air for gas-consuming appliances.
Further details
| Compatible gas | fuel gas and combustion air supply to all gas consuming appliances |
|---|---|
| Design features | housing often has a drain plug for condensate and a pressure tapping point so a differential pressure gauge can be fitted |
| Function | trap solid particles - rust, weld slag, pipe dross - before they can reach the valve seat, servo regulator, burner nozzle or modulating actuator |
| Installation position | installed in the gas supply line upstream of the gas valve |
| Maintenance requirement | periodically check the pressure drop across the element; a high drop indicates a clogged filter that can reduce burner output or cause flame instability |
| Pressure drop warning | otherwise, dust may be forced through the pad |
Choosing and fitting
Parts of this type are selected primarily by connection size and pipe thread (Rp or flanged), filter element fineness, and the pressure rating of the housing. When replacing a gas filter, confirm that the thread size matches the pipework and that the flow direction arrow on the housing points toward the gas valve. Ensure the gasket or o-ring is intact and that the filter is not installed upside down. Some multiblock gas valves incorporate an integrated filter, but this type is a separate unit.
Signs of failure
Items of this kind fail when the filter pad becomes clogged, increasing the pressure gradient across the element. A high pressure drop indicates a clogged filter, which can reduce burner output or cause flame instability. The filter pad must be changed when the pressure gradient reaches or exceeds 20 mbar; otherwise, dust may be forced through the pad. Periodically check the pressure drop across the element to monitor filter condition.
