Description
The Kromschroder JSAV40R40/2-3 is an emergency shut-off valve with SKU 86362050, designed to automatically trip and shut off gas supply when upper or lower pressure thresholds are exceeded. It features a manual reset mechanism and a transparent reset cap for visual position indication. The valve has a nominal diameter of 40 mm, connects via Rp 1 1/2" thread, and operates within an ambient temperature range of -20 to 60 °C. Its body is made of AISI alloy, the stem of stainless steel, and the seal of vulcanized NBR. The valve can be installed vertically or horizontally with a minimum distance to obstacles of 20 mm, and requires no bypass.
Further details
| Certification Standard | Class A (EN 88 and EN 161) |
|---|---|
| Gas Type | natural gas, town gas, liquefied gas (gaseous form), biogas (with H₂S content up to 0.1%), and air |
| Installation Location | between the gas filter and the burner |
| Maintenance Requirement | annual maintenance required, or every six months when using biogas |
| Manual activation | by pulling the stem via the reset cap |
| Opening condition | opens only when the burner control sends an energising signal and the gas pressure switch has confirmed that the supply pressure is within the safe range |
| Premix burner compatibility | pneumatic gas/air ratio link connects the valve to the fan |
| Pressure Test Points | threaded plugs at inlet and outlet |
| Troubleshooting | check that the burner control supplies voltage to the coil and that the gas pressure switch closes its contacts; inspect the seat for debris and verify that the servo diaphragm moves freely |
| Typical failures | burnt-out coil, leaking valve seat, drifting outlet pressure, seized servo regulator |
Choosing and fitting
When selecting a replacement emergency shut-off valve of this type, ensure the connection size, thread type, and pressure rating match the existing installation. The valve can be mounted vertically or horizontally, but maintain at least 20 mm clearance from obstacles. Verify the inlet pressure does not exceed the maximum specified for the valve. The adjustment method involves an adjusting spring, and the valve is manually reset after activation.
Signs of failure
Common failures of such valves include a stuck or leaking valve seat, which may cause gas to flow when it should be shut off, or failure to trip at the set pressure thresholds. If the valve does not open or close fully, inspect the seat for debris and check that the reset mechanism operates freely. A damaged diaphragm or seal can lead to pressure loss or improper activation.
