Cofi Ignition transformer TRK1-20PCVD

The Cofi TRK1-20PCVD is an ignition transformer designed to ignite the combustible mixture in burners and boilers by generating a high-voltage electric arc between ignition electrodes. It operates only during the ignition phase, as commanded by the burner control system. The transformer steps up the mains voltage to the level required for spark production. It is part of the ignition subsystem, which includes the ignition electrode and high-voltage ignition cables. The ignition cables used with this transformer are silicone-insulated to withstand high voltage and heat.

When selecting an ignition transformer of this type, heating engineers must consider the secondary voltage and current, primary voltage (commonly 230 V, but 110 V and 24 V exist), duty cycle, mounting arrangement, terminal type, and cable connector pattern. A hardened or cracked ignition cable can leak the spark to earth, causing weak or no ignition, which may mimic a faulty transformer.
