Fida Compact ignition transformer COMPACT 8/10-10 TE081S05

This is an ignition transformer in the Fida Compact series, model COMPACT 8/10-10, SKU TE081S05. It is intended for gas boilers and burners to generate the high voltage needed for a spark across the ignition electrode. The transformer is energised only during the ignition phase of the burner start sequence, under command from the burner control.

When selecting a replacement transformer of this type, parts are chosen by secondary voltage and current, primary voltage (230 V is common, but 110 V and 24 V also exist), duty cycle, and mounting and terminal configuration. The cable connector pattern must match the existing wiring. Physical size and terminal layout must match the transformer being replaced; verify these parameters before ordering. Ignition cables are silicone-insulated; check that the cable is not hardened or cracked.

Symptoms of a faulty transformer include absence of spark at the ignition electrodes when the burner control calls for ignition. However, a hardened or cracked ignition cable can leak the spark to earth and produce the same symptom. Inspect the cable before condemning the transformer.
