Description
The Fida ignition transformer ENPBD31 is a step-up transformer that supplies the high-voltage spark for ignition in a gas burner. It is designed for a supply voltage of 220–240 V and a frequency of 50–60 Hz. The high-voltage cable is silicone-insulated. This unit is intended for gas burners and fits the Fida 28/35 burner.
Further details
| Operating Phase | active only for the ignition period and de-energised once flame is proved |
|---|---|
| Operating Principle | steps the mains voltage up to a level sufficient to create a spark |
Choosing and fitting
Replacement transformers of this type are selected by primary voltage—most commonly 230 V, but 110 V and 24 V also occur—secondary voltage and current capacity, duty cycle rating, physical mounting arrangement, and the connector pattern of the high-voltage cable. Verify that the replacement matches the electrical and mechanical specifications of the part being removed before ordering.
Signs of failure
Failure to ignite can be caused by a hardened or cracked high-voltage cable rather than by the transformer itself. A damaged cable of this kind can bleed the spark to earth and mimic a transformer fault. Inspect the cable and the electrode assembly before replacing the transformer.
