Description
This device is a Kromschroder BR 165 L35 ignition electrode, an open (bare) electrode made of heat-resistant Kanthal A1 with ceramic insulation. It combines ignition and ionization flame monitoring using the principle of ionization rectification for flame detection. With an electrode length of 35 mm, it is intended for use in industrial gas burners, directly in the flame zone. It is compatible with Kromschroder BR 165, BIO, and BIC burner series, and meets European safety standards. The electrode requires periodic inspection and replacement and offers high heat and corrosion resistance. It is manufactured in Germany.
Further details
| Operational Stability | maximally stable ignition even at high temperatures, vibration and difficult operating conditions |
|---|---|
| Service Life | long service life under intensive operation |
Choosing and fitting
When selecting a replacement electrode of this kind, match the rod length and bend, ceramic insulator diameter, mounting flange design, and the burner series for which the geometry was shaped. Set the gap between the tip and burner earth according to the manufacturer's specification, and ensure the electrical connection is compatible with the ignition transformer.
Signs of failure
Typical failure modes include erosion of the tip, cracking of the ceramic insulator, soot build-up that shorts the flame signal, and gradual widening of the spark gap. The widening gap can delay or prevent ignition, while a shorted signal may cause the flame monitor to detect no flame. These conditions warrant inspection and replacement.
