Siemens Program module PME73.840A2

The Siemens PME73.840A2 is a program module used for configuration, parameterization and maintenance of HVAC and BMS systems. It is a Siemens spare part intended for work with building controllers and engineering systems, including commissioning, modernization and service of heating, ventilation and air conditioning equipment. In a burner control system the module holds the program logic for the ignition and safety sequence: it handles the heat demand signal, pre-purge, control of the ignition transformer and fuel valves, flame signal monitoring, and lockout or post-purge management.

Program modules of this type are selected by programme timing (pre-purge duration, safety time, post-purge time), electrical supply voltage, and compatibility with the flame detector type (ionisation, UV or IR). The terminal layout and form factor must match the existing base or chassis; some modules are interchangeable only within the same series, so check the manufacturer code against the existing unit. Before replacement make sure the burner is electrically isolated; note that the module may contain EEPROM storing burner run-time or fault history, and on some systems a new module needs to be configured via DIP switches or a commissioning tool. After fitting, verify all connectors are fully seated and do not use a module with an unknown program variant, as incorrect timings can create a safety hazard.
