Description

The Danfoss 071N1006 solenoid coil is a component of the solenoid valve integrated into an oil pump for burners. It is used in oil-fired systems where the pump draws fuel from the tank and delivers it to the nozzle at the required pressure, while the integral solenoid valve provides sharp shut-off. The coil is the electromagnetic actuator that opens and closes the valve: when energised, the valve opens to allow oil flow; when de-energised, the valve snaps shut, stopping fuel delivery. This coil is a replacement for the superseded number 071N0051 and fits Danfoss Master 4031.019, as well as Danfoss BV69, BV77, BV110, BV170, BV290, B230, B360, BV100, BV160, and BV280 air heaters. It can be replaced without removing the pump.

Choosing and fitting

Parts of this type are selected primarily by operating voltage and electrical connection type, as well as by the mechanical fit on the pump valve. The coil must match the control circuit voltage (typically 230 V, 110 V, or 24 V depending on the burner design) and the connector configuration used by the burner wiring. Replacement coils should also have the same bore diameter and mounting arrangement as the original. Always verify the coil specifications against the existing pump model before ordering.

Signs of failure

Failure of the solenoid coil is a common issue - a faulty coil leaves the burner unable to cut off fuel cleanly, often resulting in a lockout condition. When troubleshooting an oil burner that fails to shut off or drifts into lockout, checking the solenoid coil resistance and energisation is a logical step. Care is needed when replacing to avoid damaging the valve stem or o-ring.
