Description
The Kromschroder DG10U-5 gas pressure switch monitors pressure changes in gas or air environments, responding to rising positive pressure, negative pressure, or differential pressure. It has an adjusting range of 1–10 mbar and is suitable for natural gas, town gas, LPG (gaseous), flue gas, biogas (max. 0.1% by vol. H2S), and air. The switch features a silicone-free NBR diaphragm, a glass fibre reinforced PBT plastic housing with low gas release, and a lower housing section made of AlSi 12. It operates within a temperature range of -20 to +80 °C for media and ambient conditions, with a storage temperature of -20 to +40 °C. Electrical connection is via a 4-pin plug without socket, and the line diameter is 0.5–1.8 mm with an M16 x 1.5 line entrance thread. The safety class is 1, and the device is silicone-free.

Choosing and fitting
When selecting a replacement pressure switch of this type, verify the pressure range, electrical connection type, and line diameter to match the existing system. The switch must be compatible with the gas or air medium and the required safety class. Mounting involves connecting the pressure lines to the appropriate ports, ensuring the line entrance thread (M16 x 1.5) fits the conduit. The electrical connection is via a 4-pin plug, so the mating socket must be present or ordered separately. Check the ambient temperature limits and ensure the switch is installed in a location within the specified range.
Signs of failure
Common failure modes for diaphragm pressure switches include diaphragm rupture or leakage, leading to loss of pressure sensing and incorrect switching. Symptoms may include the burner failing to start, unexpected shutdowns, or failure to detect pressure drops. Electrical contact issues can cause intermittent operation or no signal. Check for visible damage to the diaphragm, verify the switch operation with a manometer, and inspect the electrical connections for corrosion or loose terminals.
