Description
The Kromschroder DG500UG-3 is a diaphragm pressure switch designed for monitoring pressure changes in gas or air systems. It operates within a pressure range of 100 to 500 mbar and features a glass fibre reinforced PBT plastic housing with an AlSi 12 lower section. The switch is silicone-free, has gold-plated contacts, and is rated IP 65. It uses an NBR diaphragm and is suitable for use with natural gas, town gas, LPG (gaseous), flue gas, biogas (max. 0.1 %-by-vol. H2S), and air. The electrical connection is via screw terminals, and the line entrance is M16 x 1.5.

Choosing and fitting
When selecting a replacement pressure switch of this type, verify the pressure range, medium compatibility, and electrical connection method. Ensure the line entrance thread and clamping range match the existing installation. The switch may be used for rising positive pressure, negative pressure, or differential pressure applications, so confirm the required function. Also check the protection class and safety class to meet the system's requirements.
Signs of failure
Common failure modes for diaphragm pressure switches include diaphragm rupture or leakage, which can cause the switch to fail to actuate or to actuate at incorrect pressures. Symptoms may include burner lockout, erratic pressure readings, or failure to detect pressure changes. Check for visible damage to the diaphragm, verify the setpoint with a manometer, and inspect the electrical contacts for wear or corrosion.
