Description
The Kromschroder DG50B-6 is a mechanical diaphragm pressure switch designed to monitor pressure changes in gas or air environments. It has an adjustable pressure range of 2.5 to 50 mbar and operates with a glass fibre reinforced PBT plastic housing and an NBR diaphragm. The switch is silicone-free and features a low gas release, making it suitable for use with natural gas, town gas, LPG (gaseous), flue gas, biogas (max. 0.1% by vol. H2S), and air. Electrical connection is via a 4-pin plug with socket, and the device is rated safety class 1. The lower housing is made of AlSi 12, and the line entrance thread is M16 x 1.5.
Choosing and fitting
When selecting a replacement pressure switch of this type, verify the adjustable pressure range, electrical connection type, and thread size to match the existing installation. Ensure the switch is suitable for the medium (gas or air) and that the ambient temperature range is compatible. Mounting typically involves connecting the pressure line to the M16 x 1.5 thread and wiring the 4-pin plug according to the system's electrical specifications.
Signs of failure
Common failure modes for diaphragm pressure switches include diaphragm rupture or leakage, which can cause the switch to fail to detect pressure changes or to trigger false alarms. Symptoms may include burner lockout, erratic operation, or failure to start. Check for visible damage to the diaphragm, proper sealing, and correct electrical continuity across the switch terminals.
