Description
The Kromschroder DG50BG-3 differential pressure switch monitors pressure changes in gases or air, switching a microswitch with a switching contact when the setpoint is reached. It has an adjustable range of 2.5–50 mbar and features gold-plated contacts. The housing is made of glass fibre reinforced PBT plastic with a lower housing of AlSi 12, and the diaphragm is NBR. It is silicone-free, has low gas release, and is designed for rising pressure. The trigger level is adjusted via a handwheel, and it includes a gas sensor for monitoring pressure changes.

Choosing and fitting
When selecting a differential pressure switch of this type, ensure the pressure range, media compatibility, and electrical ratings match the application. The line entrance thread (M16 x 1.5) and clamping range must fit the existing piping. Verify the switching function (rising or falling pressure) and adjust the setpoint using the handwheel. After installation, perform a leak check as part of routine maintenance.
Signs of failure
Common failures include diaphragm rupture or leakage, leading to loss of pressure monitoring and improper burner operation. Symptoms may include burner lockout, failure to modulate, or unsafe pressure conditions. Check for leaks, verify the switch operation by manually adjusting the setpoint, and inspect the diaphragm for damage.
