Description
The Kromschroder DG50UG-3 is a diaphragm pressure switch designed for monitoring pressure changes in gas or air environments. It has an adjustable pressure range of 2.5 to 50 mbar and is suitable for use with natural gas, town gas, LPG (gaseous), flue gas, biogas (max. 0.1% by vol. H2S), and air. The switch operates with rising positive pressure (gas/air), negative pressure (air), and differential pressure (air-air). It features a glass fibre reinforced PBT plastic housing with a lower housing section of AlSi 12, a silicone-free NBR diaphragm, and is rated IP54. The device is silicone-free, has low gas release, and includes screw terminals and an M16 x 1.5 line entrance.

Choosing and fitting
When selecting a replacement pressure switch of this type, ensure the pressure range, medium compatibility, and electrical connection match the original. The switch should be chosen based on the required setpoint range and the type of pressure (positive, negative, or differential). Installation involves connecting the pressure line to the appropriate port and wiring the screw terminals according to the system's electrical specifications. Verify that the line entrance thread (M16 x 1.5) and clamping range (4 to 10 mm cable diameter) are compatible with the existing conduit. Also, confirm the protection class (IP54) meets the environmental requirements of the installation location.
Signs of failure
Common failure modes for diaphragm pressure switches include diaphragm rupture or leakage, which can cause the switch to fail to actuate or to actuate at incorrect pressures. Symptoms on the equipment may include burner lockouts, erratic operation, or failure to detect pressure changes. Check for signs of gas or air leakage around the switch, and verify the setpoint by comparing the switch's actuation pressure with a manometer. Also, inspect the diaphragm for cracks or deterioration, especially if the medium contains contaminants or if the switch has been exposed to extreme temperatures.
