Description

This forced-air pilot burner is designed to ignite the main burner of gas-fired equipment. It operates on natural gas, town gas, and LPG, and is reconfigurable for the required fuel type. Spark ignition provides the start, and flame presence is detected by ionization. The unit comprises a mixing tube, nozzle, and electrode assembly, with a flame tube length of 100 mm and a protective tube length of 400 mm. The housing is protected against dust and moisture, and the insulator is ceramic.

Choosing and fitting

When replacing a pilot burner of this kind, match the flame length, gas throughput, connection size, and the main burner series. Such burners are typically flange-mounted, and the mounting orientation must be fixed according to the combustion head geometry. Before fitting, check the electrode gap and the condition of the ceramic insulator (soot or cracks). Verify that the gas orifice is clean and that the flange gasket is intact. Set the pilot gas pressure to match the burner specification.

Signs of failure

Failure of a pilot burner of this kind usually appears as intermittent flame signals: a sooted or cracked ceramic insulator causes an unstable ionization signal. A widened electrode gap delays ignition. A dirty or blocked gas orifice prevents stable pilot operation. Check the insulator for soot or cracks, measure the electrode gap, and ensure the gas orifice is clean.
