Description
The Suntec AS47C 1538-6 is an oil pump with a built-in normally open solenoid valve that provides a shut-off function, ensuring quick stopping and resumption of fuel supply. It features a cylindrical connection thread (ISO 228/1), pressure and vacuum gauge ports of G1/8", and a bypass plug installed for two-pipe systems (remove for one-pipe). The pump has a strainer with an open area of 6 cm² and automatic air venting in two-pipe systems. Its valve function is pressure regulation, and it is designed for use in burners and boilers.

Choosing and fitting
When selecting a replacement oil pump of this type, ensure the connection thread type (cylindrical or conical) and size match the existing piping, as well as the shaft diameter and mounting configuration (flange or sleeve per EN 225). Verify the bypass plug configuration for the system type (two-pipe or one-pipe) and that the pressure and vacuum gauge port sizes are compatible. Also, check the solenoid valve type (normally open or closed) and the shut-off function requirements to match the burner control system.
Signs of failure
Common failures in oil pumps of this kind include loss of pressure due to a clogged strainer or worn gears, leading to burner ignition issues or unstable flame. A faulty solenoid valve may cause fuel to continue flowing after shutdown, resulting in dripping or flooding. Air ingress can occur if seals fail, causing erratic operation or failure to start. Check the strainer for debris, test the solenoid valve for proper operation, and inspect connections for leaks.
